Why are we here? What is our purpose on this planet?

I want to inspire people around me to be part of the transformation, I want to spread my positive visions for healthy people and planet, for global justice and intergenerational equity.

My journey took me from a local bike activist to a global UN sustainability lobbyist. Find out more about my current and past projects.

projects

Together with energy transition chronicler Craig Morris, I host and moderate the podcast on Community Renewables, financed by the EU project LeCo. Local, distributed, citizen-owned renewable energy production is a central pillar of the energy transition. This is also what is written in the 2nd EU Renewable Energy Directive (EE-RL II). We take a deep dive into community energy from all angles. Experts from politics, law, sociology and theology will have their say.

Ambassador for the Rights for Future Generations

Currently, I am nominated as the Ambassador for the Rights for Future Generations by the Foundation for the Rights for Future Generations. Besides continuing my effort for a sustainable future, another aspect that I work on is the question of how future generations could be represented in a democracy, especially lowering the voting age. Furthermore, I am fascinated by the position of a Commissioner on Future Generations in other parts of the world, with whom I am collaborating.

Carbon Tax

A carbon tax is one of the most effective and supported market instrument for climate protection, at least when it comes to scientists and experts. But how come, that public acceptance is so low? And how to increase it? This is what I am examining with my Master Thesis at the Humboldt-University Berlin and the Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change (MCC).
Besides that, I am working for the German carbon tax organization (CO2 Abgabe e.V.) to convince politicians and businesses of a socially fair and effective carbon tax model.

UN Youth Delegate on Sustainable Development

From 2017-19, I was elected as the German UN Youth Delegate on Sustainable Development. I accompanied the German delegation to the UN conferences and gave young people a voice within the delegation and at the UN. Therefore, I traveled around Germany to talk to young people, I told them about the SDGs and collected their visions, demands and questions which I brought to the UN and also to national policy-makers.
This intense time gave me unique insights into international and national sustainability policy processes and provided me with a sound picture of our young generation.

All in for Climate Action

After the uprising of Fridays for Future school strikers and shortly before the UN Climate Action Summit in New York in September 2019, my aim was to unite the local climate youth activists from all over the world and build a bridge between them and the United Nations. And so I started the All in for Climate Action Campaign. Our common message to the heads of states was to come up with measures that will keep our planet below 1.5°C.
These measures were defined by young climate activists in country-specific policy demands in a petition. Within months, we collected more than 90 petitions from five continents and >1.5 million supporters worldwide, among them also celebrities. At the UN Youth Climate Summit in New York, I handed over the petitions.

FahrradBande - cycling activism

After firstly having been in touch with sustainability projects in Egypt in 2013, I wanted to live as sustainably as possible in my every-day life. One thing that hindered me most was cycling in Berlin. This motivated me to co-found the bicycle initiative „FahrradBande“ as part of BUNDjugend Berlin. We used creative activities to pay attention to the bad cycling infrastructure and supported the Berlin Cycling Referendum which in record-time became the Berlin Cycling Law.
